As of fall 2018, Wuri is in her first year of the PhD program in Curriculum and Instruction. Her focus of study is language and technology for early childhood education, with special interest on the use of authentic material in foreign language teaching. Wuri earned her Bachelor degree from Universitas Negeri Semarang (UNNES) in Indonesia with a research focus on the use of “why” questions to develop critical thinking of high school students in English Class. She also taught English in Indonesia for a year before she moved to The University of Wisconsin Madison to teach Indonesian Language for college students under Fulbright Foreign Language. After a year, she decided to move to Montana to earn her Masters Degree in General Curriculum and Instruction from University of Montana before she finally worked as an adjunct professor for Indonesian Language at Defense Critical Language and Culture in University of Montana. This experience provides her a good amount of exposure on developing lesson plans based on authentic materials of the target language such as video news, movies, ads, online news, and so on. This experience also inspired her to go back to school to deepen her knowledge about language, technology, and authentic materials.
Wuri is a giggly person. Sometimes she giggles not because there is something funny going on but just because she wants to. To avoid an awkward moment, she likes to be in a crowd with many people and giggle with them. She also likes to learn new things and adapt to new environments. For her, change is inevitable and adaptation is a never ending process to survive. This attitude brought her to many different activities that she never thought she would like to do such as learning to play musical instruments, hiking, kayaking, tubing, cooking, gardening, and many more. She is really friendly and loves to hear your stories, so if you meet her don’t hesitate to greet her and tell her about your day. She is a good listener! |
