Autumn Joy Florêncio-Wain is a student and teacher of holistic education, currently pursuing her PhD at the State University of New York at Albany. A passionate advocate for what she terms the four C’s of holistic education: curiosity, caring, collaboration and connectedness, Autumn has been researching Waldorf, Montessori, homeschooling and other holistic modalities since 2010. Autumn holds a BA in anthropology (Bard College, 2000), an MS in TESOL (SUNY New Paltz, 2007), and is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. Autumn has taught Pre-K through college in a variety of holistic and conventional settings in the US and Brazil. Her work can be found in books and presentation archives, including that of the American Educational Research Association. Current projects and collaborations include, "Race, inclusion, social justice and holistic education; a duoethnography", “Education, heritage and spirit; dialog with a Huni-Kuin school teacher and holder of sacred wisdom”, "Adult Former Students of Holistic Education: Lived experience & meaning making relative to the hopes & expectations held for them" and "Researchers' conversation exploring methods in holistic education research".
