Article I: Preamble
The Educational Theory and Practice Doctoral Students Group (ETAP DocS) is an organization, formally recognized by the University at Albany’s Graduate Student Organization (GSO), which is comprised of, and represents, all doctoral students in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice at the University at Albany.

Article II: Name and Affiliation
The name of the RGSO shall be ETAP Doctoral Students (ETAP DocS), affiliated with the Educational Theory and Practice department within the School of Education at the University at Albany.

Article III: Purpose
The purpose of ETAP DocS is three-fold: (1) Represent the interests of the doctoral students in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice; (2) Create opportunities to build community, camaraderie and a spirit of shared action and responsibility within the doctoral student cohort of the department; (3) Plan and sponsor events that are relevant to the needs of the members of ETAP DocS.

Article IV: Organizational Status
ETAP DocS has no financial earnings. All funds of ETAP DocS shall be kept in the Graduate Student Organization account. No personal funds may be intermingled with these moneys, and no purchases may be made from the account for personal items. All money raised independently by the group shall be deposited in the GSO account. ETAP DocS fundraises only for specific ETAP DocS-sponsored events. ETAP DocS funds shall not be part of any political campaign or assistance for any candidate seeking or holding public office (including the publishing or distributing of statements). Consistent with the GSO, ETAP DocS shall not carry on other activities not permitted to be carried on by a corporation exempt from Federal Income tax under Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986.

Article V: Membership
All students currently enrolled in the Department of Educational Theory and Practice doctoral program within the School of Education at the University at Albany are members of ETAP DocS. Membership into ETAP DocS is established by one’s admittance as a PhD student into the Educational Theory and Practice Department. All doctoral students are deemed members independent of their full- or part-time student status or their activity level within ETAP DocS.

Article VI: Statement of Non-Discrimination
Consistent with the GSO, no graduate student shall be excluded from participation in, denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in ETAP DocS based on age, race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, socioeconomic status, veteran status, physical ability, or national origin.
