Ekta is currently pursuing her PH. D in Curriculum and Instruction from University at Albany, State University of New York. She believes that educating a child is a highly responsible task. After introspection and listening to her calling, she did Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) from Jesus And Mary College, India. To further enhance her understanding of the systemic issues in the education she did MA Education program from Tata Institute Social Sciences (TISS), India. These programs helped her to enrich my capacity to develop curriculum, train teachers, conduct evidence-based research - to strengthen the curriculum and instruction of discipline-based teaching at various levels of education. Her professional and personal experiences instilled in her a deep desire to learn more about various teaching approaches and motivated her to be a part of the change that she wants to see in the prevailing education system.
Her interest in exploring the potential use of ICT in teaching mathematics was further shaped into a research project on the same. During her master’s thesis, she worked on, “Using Digital Technology for Teaching Elementary Concepts in Geometry: An exploration”. Her field experiences fascinated her and infused in her an urge to take on more practical work to bring a positive change. Considering that, she thought an education startup could provide relevant opportunities for her to experiment with different ideas. So, she started working as a curriculum developer for Robotics Wizards, an educational startup working in multiple states across India. The core area of work was to build a Technology Club within the schools. Her decision for pursuing Ph.D. is an effort to quench her thirst for knowledge. Apart from academics, she has always been actively involved in extra-curricular activities including Painting, Theatre, Art, and Craft. |
